Ace Attorney: Andrew Dalmin, Turnabout Kittens

 Turnabout Kittens Investigation Phase 1

Dalmin Office
April 29
12:00 PM

I had no idea what to say.  If you were in my situation, I'd guess most of you would agree with me.  Out of everything I had been expecting, it certainly wasn't that.  It had been a simple morning.  The office was nice and clean, the skies were clear, and it was a bright and beautiful day.  Deciding to enjoy the nice weather, I decided to go for a two hour walk.  It was very relaxing, and I met a few old friends along the way.  I was feeling just fine when I had to go on and open my office door.

Kittens.  Stuffed kittens EVERYWHERE.  On the floor, on the desk, on the couch, blue ones, red ones, pink ones, green ones, big ones, short ones, ABSOLUTELY EVERYWHERE.  And not just that but action figures, a mountain of dvds, and a few posters.   They all looked fairly similar in overall art style, but nothing like I'd ever seen before.

It occurred to me very quickly that she had planned this.  She was waiting for me to go for at least a few hours so that she could redecorate the whole office.  How did she even manage to get this stuff in here?  One thing was certain though; it needed to get out of my office and get out of it NOW.

I ran into the my office room, and sure enough, she was there.  She had even decorated my office!  MY office!!!!  She herself was wearing some sort of cat ears and a very brightly colored t-shirt.  I didn't even know where to start.

"Jenna..." I said, trying to contain the anger I felt building.

Instead of turning around and giving me a guilty look like I had been expecting, she just kept staring at the television.  In fact, she acted like she hadn't heard me at all.

"Uh...Jenna..." I said, pacing my foot.  Still no reaction.

Curious as to what the heck could possibly interest her so much, I took a look at the television.  On it were a group of kittens who looked exactly like kittens I had seen in to office.  They were conversing and laughing and talking about just plain silly stuff.  It reminded me of the shows I used to watch when I was five years old.   Thankfully, whatever she was seeing ended, and the credits began scrolling.

She stood up, stretched, and turned around, walking straight into me.

"Oh, hey Andrew!"  She said grinning happily.  Her grin suddenly vanished when she noticed that my face had multiple different emotional expressions on it.

"Jenna..." I said, trying to mentally comprehend what I had just witnessed, "Why the hell is my office filled with....kittens...?"

"Oh, I just figured I'd do a little decorating."  She said, grinning.  "Your office was getting a little boring again."

"I just finished removing the last disaster that hit this room.  Just what...what even is this?"

   "Is what?" she said, confused.

"This!?" I said, gesturing to pretty much everything in the room.

"Oh, what is it?" She said, smiling.  "It's Fuzzy Kittens!"

"Fuzzy...Kittens...?" I said, my mouth dropping wide open.

"Yeah, it's a new kid's show that's become very popular!"

   "You're an adult..."

"So?  This show isn't just for kids.  There are many kids, teens, and adults that love it!  I know quite a few guys in the studio who are really getting into it!"

"You MUST be joking," I said, adjusting my glasses for the twentieth time in the last two minutes.

"Not at all.  It's just such a great show!  The characters are so creative!"

They were kittens with different colors, and slightly different fur.

"They all have so much personality!"

They all had the personality of my 5-year old cousin.

"It's all about friendship and happiness!"

I suddenly realized how it felt to be Brandon listening to Aaron's testimony in court.

"D-d...do you realize what could happen if someone actually SEES this!?"

"Well, we haven't actually had a client yet."

I sat down on the couch (fell down would be a better way to describe it), almost in a daze.  I could barely think straight.  My office, a law office, was covered in every nook and cranny with toys based on a TV show meant for 3 year olds.  I had never thought of something so absurd happening in all my life.

"Sooo...." she said, hands behind her back.  "I have a favor to ask..."

I decided not to completely explode and at least listen to her request.

  "Fine, what is it..."

"I need you to take me to the Fuzzy Kittens convention this evening."

I was about to completely lose it, but then a thought occurred to me.

"If I take you to this, will you promise to remove all this decoration from my office?  And I mean tomorrow morning." I said, looking at her rather seriously.

"But..." she said, giving a pouty look.

"If you don't agree in the next three seconds, you're not going."

"Fine, deal!"  She said, still looking a little pouty.

Front Gate
April 29
6:00 PM

The front gate looked like I had expected.  Blue, pink, red, and green, with a a childish "WELCOME!" and two kittens on each side.  As ridiculous as it was, I decided to reserve judgement for when I was at my office alone and could scream my head off.

"Alright, have fun," I said, unlocking the door.  As she went out the door, I was about to floor it out of there, but then she turned around.

"Hold on, where do you think you're going?"

I froze, fearing what she meant by that question.

"You're coming with me!" she said, opening my car door.  "I got tickets for both of us."

   "Wha....no I certainly will-"

   "Come on!"

She then proceeded to pull my entire body out of the car.  Do not ask me how that works.  7 hours ago, I was relaxed, calm, and almost happy for once.  Now, I was being dragged straight into a new form of hell.

Gettin' Back on the Track

Hey guys, long time no see!

So, as some of you are aware, I am going to once again start back on my Ace Attorney writing series again. I am excited for this as I'm sure some of you are as well, and I'm interested to see where the series is heading this time.

However, before I begin, I have some questions to ask, a survey if you will.  I know many of you are writers with you own styles and opinions, and I would simply like your opinions on the story as a whole.  Here's some questions I would be interested in hearing answers on:

Would you be interested the series being sillier, with jokes and funny and strange characters, more interested in a more serious story overall, or a mix of both?

Is there any characters (you can choose yourself) from the first case that you would like to see returning?

(For those who have played the games) Would you prefer the story to be closely based off of the game's format, would you prefer it to be more like traditional writing, or a mix of both?

Would you like more drawings of the characters?

Those are the main questions I have for now.  If there are any questions you have to ask me or comments, feel free to include them in your response.  Feel free to respond in whatever way you find best, through email or Facebook for those who know me, or just reply to the post on here directly.  Thanks!
